Some players on new Windows 11 PCs can't sign in to their online account. **Windows Smart App Control** is blocking one of the game's files: the module that talks to our server. It does that because the game's files aren't digitally signed yet.
**With the latest update the game still starts and plays offline.** The title screen shows *OFFLINE: Windows blocked online play*, and your progress is saved on your PC.
We're getting the game's files signed, so this will go away on its own. Until then, if you want online play now (the mailbox, events, PvP, guilds and your cloud save), you can turn Smart App Control off:
1. Open **Start** and search for **Smart App Control** (or go to **Windows Security > App & browser control > Smart App Control settings**).
2. Choose **Off**.
3. Restart Critters vs. Predators.
**Before you do:** on many versions of Windows 11, once Smart App Control is off it can't be turned back on without resetting Windows. Microsoft Defender keeps protecting your PC either way. If you'd rather keep it on, the game plays fine offline, and online play will work once the signed update is out.
